What are the different parts of the brain? To help clarify the Super Smarties thinking, we painted our model brains to show the different lobes. We had to strive for accuracy to paint the lobes in the right place!

Constructing Criteria - Online Slideshow Creator

The Super Smarties are on a learning journey to learn how to write an explanation so that they can share with others how the brain learns. Firstly they just 'had a go' and soon discovered that we do not know very much about writing explanations! So, what would an intelligent learner do now? Look at some exemplars of course! Thinking Interdependently the Super Smarties deconstructed exemplars to learn how to write one. They then used this knowledge to construct criteria and used the Habits of Mind to group the criteria. Awesome learning Smarties!

The Super Smarties got all sticky making the salt dough that they used to create a model of their brain. The super Smarties had to apply their knowledge about the different parts of the brain in order to sculpt the dough into the correct shape.

Holiday Challenge

Mr O'Dowda Day!

What a way to say goodbye and good luck to Mr O'Dowda. We had such fun playing games, eating sausage rolls, playing gladiator and having the best water fight ever!

Hut Day!

Wow! What fun we had on Tuesday constructing our huts. The Habits of Mind that were utilised to solve problems, work with others and have fun was fantastic to see.

The Smarties are learning about their brains! Why do we have a brain? What are the different parts of our brain? What jobs do the different parts have? How do we learn? The Smarties are using their brain power to investigate and find out the answers to these questions.

Our Awesome Hut!

We have been learning to write Memorable Memoirs and looked at an exemplar of a memoir that was about building huts. We have many great memories about building huts and the adventures that we have had in our huts. Through our discussion we learnt that one member of our class had never made a hut before. We had a mission! During break we all worked interdependently to construct a hut and a new experience for our class mate. Boy did we have fun!
